Permanent Recruitment Process

You need tenacity, drive and above all experience to succeed in permanent recruitment, our Consultants not only have these qualities but they regularly attend courses to fine tune their skills.  No stone is left unturned in the hunt for outstanding staff on your behalf.

The most important thing to say here is that this is in fact your permanent recruitment process and you call the shots.  So if you want any “special” tweaks added to the process below, don’t hesitate to tell us and it will be done!  But if you want us to just handle it all and get you a top quality result then we will run the programme below for you.

We never compromise on the quality of the candidates we put forward to you because we know that every Maine-Tucker placement has to pass the three month test and that if they don’t then we make no money.  So we do exactly what it says on the tin; we recruit honest candidates using an honest selection process.  So here we go….

Stage 1 – Client’s initial Call to Maine-Tucker

If you are a new customer you will usually speak first to either our Managing Director, Meeta Sahni or our Recruitment Director, Sam Moss.  This is because right from the start we think carefully about the Consultant who will be taking care of your business.  We take the basic details of the job at this point but we recognise that you will want to invest the most time with your Consultant to effect the best handover of information.

Stage 2 – The Client Visit

However detailed a job description may be, it is impossible to give the outstanding service you deserve without the benefit of a personal visit.  The Client visit gives us the culture, the chemistry and the corporate image.  In a recent poll where we asked our Clients the most important issue for them in taking on a new person, the majority were most concerned about “long-term commitment” and “staying power”. Commitment is not something you can achieve by having a perfect skills match, you need to look at the person in relation to the people they will be working with.  In other words, they need to fit in.  So the Client Visit is vital.  We need to know who you are.

Stage 3 – The Hunt

In today’s fast turning world based on this massive web that rules our lives you need a modern Consultant who knows exactly where to go to find your candidate.  We have a state-of-the-art highly groomed database, we can start with this.  Many of the candidates held here have arrived here through personal recommendation. But importantly, we also have access to the finest on-line advertising arenas.  For example, we are high profile on the following on-line sites:  The Guardian jobs, Secs in the City, Times on-line and Total jobs.  We have instant links to these sites so your search is broadly based in a matter of seconds and of course our reputation for working for top quality companies attracts top quality candidate response.

Candidates are tested on the “Prove It” system where their spelling, word, power-point, excel and typing speeds are all tested as a minimum standard.  We have the capability to test on any item of software you would like and in addition we also have a language testing system.

Stage 4 – The Shortlist

When you receive your list of finalists you can be assured that each candidate on that list will have been personally re-interviewed by your Consultant with specific regard to your job opening.  With each CV we like to give you a summary or cover note so that you can see at a glance the credentials of the person and also recognise why they have been put forward.  Your Consultant will then organise for them to visit you for an interview and also keep you supplied with feedback from the candidate view point.

Stage 5 – Negotiations and Offers

Once you have identified your prospective new employee it is up to us to present your verbal offer in the best possible light.  We will then negotiate a basic agreement between the two parties.  Once the basic salary and benefits have been agreed and a start date, we then ask you to forward us a copy of your offer letter and the job is then done!
