Strictly Richie - The Confessions of a Finance Recruitment Consultant… Kinda.
A Blog by Richie Gill 25-08-11

Hi recruiters, job-seekers and blog-readers!
As I write (or type, for all you smarty pants out there) my first EVER blog, I’m on my commute home on the wonderful London Underground; standing, with a slightly ‘unfresh’ gentleman’s armpit constantly brushing my earlobe and a chirpy tourist’s shopping bags jabbing my calves; I think, how am I supposed to even come CLOSE to some of the brilliant blogs that have been posted over the past few months?! What do I even talk about??!
Should I talk about the riots? Nah, the thugs have already had too much attention. The ‘great’ English weather? Nope, as I think everyone knows it’s a surprise when the sun decides to pop out from behind the rain clouds. How about the economic climate? Probably not a positive thing to talk about, I’ll leave that to the tabloids. Maine-Tucker/Strictly Finance? Well, that goes without saying, but what else? Ooh, what about myself?! I’ll try and keep that to a minimum!
And then it dawned on me… I’m going to play my “newbie” card! So, if it’s not good enough, I can get away with it!
Yes, I’m one of the newer members of the MTR/SF family; and I say family for a reason…
*Cheese Alert* I have never worked in a team with the diversity in personalities, culture and experience that we have here, and yet work SO well together. That is because we all share the same belief, approach and passion toward our work.
No doubt there are some very good consultants working at other agencies, but at MTR/SF we have the best… the best fit, and that is what the recruitment business is about; finding the best fit to meet our Client’s criteria and our Candidate’s preferences. Obvious, it may seem, but so often forgotten by many in search of a quick buck.
It reminds me why I joined Maine-Tucker in the first place. The ethos at MTR/SF set them apart from the rest. They really ARE interested in the Client and the Candidate. Who else shares the risk entirely with their Clients with a guarantee of a full refund if they or the Candidate are not happy?! We are interested in long-term business relationships and we have found that our Candidates and Clients feel so much happier when they know that finding a new job or candidate through MTR/SF is not a sales process.
Now this is a company I wanted to associate myself with. *Another Cheese Alert* This is a company I feel proud to be a part of.
Other than recruiting, everyone here has a distinctive talent: Manoj has an amazing whistling ability; Chima’s quick with banter and wind-ups; Tom’s challenges me with his football knowledge; Diane could win Gold if ‘walking to work’ was an Olympic event; Sam’s, like, awesome accents; Carly’s scary ability to look up and engage in a full conversation whilst typing at full speed; Michael eats like a race horse, but still manages to look as slick as one; Danielle’s brilliant impressions of us and putting up with Chima; and Denise (who is next up to blog!) who has the ability to make Clients and Candidates alike absolutely adore her!
I think I speak for everyone connected to MTR, when I say Simon “the quizmaster” Jordan will be missed and wish him the best of luck! He has decided to move up north to pastures new; but as one chapter ends, another starts… The English Football Premier League is back!!
What else would I be talking about?!
Stay tuned for next weeks blog from another one of Maine-Tucker’s Temp Consultants, the lovely Denise Le-Men.
