Strictly, Strictly, Strictly Finance Recruitment!! It’s in the name and it's what we do!

After a long and continuing success under the name of Maine–Tucker, we thought we would shake it up a little, change names and rebrand our financial sector…and overnight the Strictly Finance brand was conceived. Our aim to be a little different from the others and offer the same high levels of service that our clients have enjoyed since 1987.
How are we doing? In a nutshell, we’re doing great!! What I have learned from my experience is that it’s not all about a particular brand or fancy marketing (although this helps!) it’s all about the people. Recruitment is very much a people’s business, and yes people do make the world go round. It’s all about perseverance and approaching recruitment with a touch of creativity and lots of personality!
I joined the crew last year and in that short space of time, I have met some great people and watched the business grow successfully. My career started in direct sales, which initially was quite daunting, knocking on doors and selling concepts with no sales experience, doors being slammed in your face, being rained on, chased by a few dogs and even husbands!! This was one of the best experiences in my life!! (I mean the Job) Some of the stories I could tell you! Anyway after a bit of perseverance and wanting to quit a hundred times, I got quite good at it, built a massive team and made lots of money, I then went onto the IT sector and so on……… I then wanted a new challenge; I wanted to use these newly developed people skills in a new arena! Selling windows did not really excite me, so I turned that one down, I was approached by an agency that specialised in Accountancy and thought I’d give it a go, oh boy was this recruitment lark frustrating! It was a little bit more than placing candidates into jobs, they actually had opinions, and didn’t turn up for interviews, and they even said ‘No!’ when they were offered their dream job!! aarghhhh. Once again I knuckled down, took all, the negatives and got good at it!! (you can see there is a pattern forming here, basically the more you practice, the more hard work you put in , you get good at it,) my latest project is my marriage, however I think you can spend a lifetime not knowing what you are doing with this one ! (Sorry Veema, I’m joking!)
As you can see from the above, I obviously don’t like talking about myself, so I’ll fast forward the next bit, I basically went on and moved to Dubai, where I was more involved in operations as well as the recruitment side, and was covering several different sectors, after spending 4 years out there, decided to move back home.
What I like about our company is the fact that there are many characters here. It’s like being in an episode of the Simpsons (in a nice way!). What I am trying to say is the office is full of unique personalities, everyone is from a different walk of life and has had different experiences, which is great for our business. It lets you have a fresh set of opinions and ideas which are vital for our growth. You are given the right tools and support to flourish in your role, if you choose to.
So there it is, a brief insight into my history and Strictly Finance, catch me sometime in the near future, where I will be talking about a typical day in recruitment.
Don’t forget to check in next week to hear from Michael.
